Site work for an educational facility in Waipahu, Hawaii. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility.

Installation of new outdoor digital signage at Waikele Elementary School. I. New Equipment a. New sign shall be a double sided information sign, full color LED b. Sign dimension shall be at least 6' wide x 6' high c. Display resolution shall be 288 * 288 d. Pixels pitch shall be P6 e. Total pixels shall be 82,944 px f. Contractor shall provide all necessary software to program and run the LED digital display. g. Equipment shall be Whitebox, Daktronics, or Stewart Signs II. Sign Mounting a. The new LED digital signage marquee will be mounted in front of the administration building near the existing marquee on a new concrete slab. This system will be in color, easily programmable from a computer remotely, UV protected and on a timer to dim at night so as not to disturb the neighbors (the exact location to be determined at the mandatory pre-bid meeting). b. Contractor to remove existing marquee and dispose of it. It shall be removed and disposed of properly according to government rules and regulations. c. The contractor shall provide all necessary components for the complete installation; including but not limited to EMT conduits, wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, mounting brackets, hardware, fasteners, etc. III. Painting a. All exposed conduits shall be painted to match surrounding areas. b. Any damages caused by the contractor's work shall be repaired and touch up painted to the satisfaction of the project coordinator. IV. Electrical a. Electrical work shall be for both power and communication. b. The power for the sign shall be run from building A's electrical panel. The contractor shall verify power requirements of the sign before ordering. Wiring shall be sized per local electrical code and the NEC Handbook. c. Contractor shall include grounding rods and an approved surge protection device at the panel to protect new equipment from electrical power surges. d. Contractor shall provide two (2) Category-6 OSP cables and pull string from the sign's ethernet port to the communication hub in Building A's MDF Room. Exact location in MDF to be determined by IT Manager (STSSB) or school Technology Coordinator. Approved Materials (or equivalent) - Cat6 Outside Plant, UTP, 24AWG, OSP, fully water blocked, Black o Berk-Tek 10139885 - Extreme 6+ Cat6 Connector, QuickPort Snap-in Cat6, T568A, UL Listed, Orange o Leviton 61110-RO6 - QuickPort Wall Plate, 4-port, ABS plastic, fire-retardant material rated UL 94V-0, DoubleGang, Ivory o Leviton 42080-4IP - Blank insert, 10 per pack, Ivory o Leviton 41084-BI e. All conduits shall be minimum 1" EMT. Flexible conduit is not permitted. Non-metallic conduits are not permitted in above ground installations. Conversion fittings are required for non-metallic (below ground) to metallic (above ground) transitions. Telecom pathways must meet DOE Telecom Cabling Specs shown below. Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT): 1) EMT fittings will be formed steel compression ring type. Die cast fittings are not allowed. 2) EMT will be UL listed and conform to NEC Article 300.22. 3) Will be used inside buildings only. 4) Only manufacturer's fittings, transition adapters, terminators and fixed bends will be used. 5) All transition junction and pull boxes, fittings terminators and adapters will be a metallic material. 6) Minimum average tensile strength will be 1250 lbs for 1 1/2 -inch and smaller conduits and innerduct. 7) Minimum average tensile strength will be 1800 lbs for conduits larger than 1 1/2 inch. Cable Protection 1) Provide bushings in all metal studs and the like where cables will pass through. Bushings will be of two (2)-piece construction with one piece inserted through the opening and the second piece locking it into place. Single piece bushings with locking tabs or friction fit are specifically prohibited. 2) Cables to be installed in existing enclosed open bays or furred spaces where conduit stubs are not provided, will be protected from chafing or any damage. The Installer will verify that the warranty will not be violated before installing any cabling in these locations. 3) Provide cutting, coring, sleeves and bushings and seal as required at all penetrations. 4) Cables damaged during installation will not be repaired. They will be completely replaced with new cable at no cost to the Department. Horizontal Pathways 1) No PVC or PVC sleeves are to be used for telecommunication conduit within the confines of the building 2) All horizontal conduit stubs shall be neatly arranged and fitted with proper plastic bushing to prevent damage to cabling during installation. (Note: electrical subcontractor or telecom subcontractor shall NOT install cabling unless conduit ends have been properly finished with end bushings) 3) All horizontal conduit shall have a plastic or nylon pull cord installed with a minimum test rating of 90Kg. (200 lb). 4) All horizontal conduit (data, TV, WAP, Telephone, etc.) should be 1" minimum and shall not exceed two 90-degree bends without a pull box and be home run from each telecom outlet to the building IDF 5) Horizontal pathways shall not exceed 270 feet from the telecom outlet to the building IDF 6) Horizontal conduit should end at the telecom outlet side in a 5" square electrical box with a double gang trim ring 7) All conduit shall be properly grounded per electrical code 8) Conduit bodies (e.g., LBs) are not allowed in telecom conduit systems 9) Exposed conduit should be painted to match adjacent surface 10) All conduit penetrations should be patched/sealed/fire stopped appropriately 11) "Liquid tight" conduit and fittings should not be used in the telecom conduit system without the approval of EISB to do so Conduit Fittings 1) All fittings will be compression or threaded. 2) Fittings will provide a secure connection for pulling communications cables. 3) Setscrew fittings are not permitted. 4) Conduit LBs or "condulets" are NOT permitted. Junction Boxes (JB) 1) Normally provided in conduit runs of more than 100 feet in length, and if containing more than the equivalent of two 90-degree bends. 2) Provide detail drawing of JB with conduits entering/exiting JB. 3) Should be installed on straight runs and not at turns. 4) If used at turns JB must have minimum depth of 12 inches. 5) Typical JB size on riser with pull thru: for 2-3"c - 12"W x 12"H x 8"D. 6) Typical JB size on riser with turn: for 2-3"c -18"W x 18"W x 10"D. 7) Provide stainless steel, fiberglass, cast aluminum, or PVC JBs in areas with corrosive environment and for all exposed environments. 8) Limit junction box installation at 10 feet or less off the ground; bottom of JB must be above 6'-8" minimum in walkway locations. Pull Boxes, Junction Boxes and Gutters 1) All junction boxes, gutters and pull boxes will comply with NEC Article 314. 2) All junction boxes, gutters and pull boxes will meet the following minimum material requirements: a. 16-gauge steel or heavier. b. Seams will be continuously welded and grounded smooth. c. External screws and clamps. d. External mounting feet (where possible). e. Oil-resistant gasket and adhesive. f. ANSI 61 gray polyester powder coating inside and out over phosphatized surface. g. UL 50 type 12. 3) All junction boxes, gutters and pull boxes will be provided with bushings for conduits and/or cabling. 4) All junction boxes, gutters and pull boxes will be securely installed. 5) All junction boxes, gutters and pull box sizes for single and multiple conduit runs will comply with BICSI TDMM. Backboxes 1) Provide plastic dual gang, 2-1/2 inch Receptacle Box for all surface-mounted outlets. 2) Provide 5" square telecom box with 5/8" mud ring for all backboxes fed by conduit pathways 3) Approved Products a. Wiremold V5744S-2, Deep Switch and Receptacle Box, Ivory b. Randl T-55017 5-square backbox, (1) 1" and (1) 1-1/4" knockout per side c. Randl D-51G058, 5/8" one-gang extension ring
