Site work for a water / sewer project in Dos Palos, California. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Work includes: New reinforced concrete floor caps and footing extensions for existing long crested weir structures, saw cutting new gate openings through existing structure walls, partial demolition of an existing concrete canal structure, new reinforced concrete, miscellaneous metal, and installation of metal sluice gates furnished by others. The bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bidder's bond for ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid and made payable to Henry Miller Reclamation District No. 2131 (District). The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price and a payment bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bonds to be secured from a financially responsible surety company, satisfactory to the District, authorized to do business in the State of California. The Work is "public work" subject to prevailing wages. Award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder, however, the District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities in the bid, and to postpone the date of bid opening. The Work is located in Merced County near Dos Palos, California. The Work consists of upgrades to existing long crested weir structures at seven (7) locations, and modifications to an existing canal spill structure at the end of the Carlucci Ditch. The structure upgrades and modifications include demolition, reinforced concrete, miscellaneous metal, and installation of fabricated metal and canal gates furnished by the others. Existing Long Crested Weir Upgrades There are existing check structures with long crested weirs on the Delta Canal north of Palazzo Road (DE-12); on the Midway Canal west of Carlucci Avenue (MI-05) and east of Box Car Road (MI-10); on the San Juan Canal south of Highway 152 (SJ-02), north of Hutchins Road (SJ-07), and north of Henry Miller Avenue (SJ-11); and on Swamp Ditch west of Turner Island Road (SW-05). These existing long crested weirs are located on the upstream side of the check structures. To reduce floatation potential and strengthen the structures, the floors shall be capped with a layer of reinforced concrete, the thickness of which is indicated on the Drawings. The reinforcement shall be epoxy doweled to the inside of the existing walls. At Sites DE-12 and MI-05 the footings along the outside of the structures shall be widened and thickened with reinforced concrete epoxy doweled to the existing footings and walls. Five (5) of the structures have existing weep holes in the floors which shall be extended through the new cap. New weep oles shall be added to the other two (2) structures (SJ-07 & SJ-11) by saw cutting or core drilling holes through the existing floor, placing filter fabric, rock, and a metal screen in the subbase, installing a PVC pipe sleeve from the subbase to the top of the new floor cap, and filling the annulus with concrete. Square or rectangular openings shall be saw cut through the upstream walls and new fabricated metal sluice gates furnished by others shall be installed by the Contractor on the outside of the wall. The bottom of the gate openings shall be flush with the top of the new floor caps. Exposed rebar ends in the new openings shall be coated with epoxy. A metal access walkway from the canal bank to the sluice gate will be furnished and installed by others.
