Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Eugene, Oregon. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
Construct new airside facility to store runway sand and equipment. The Federal Aviation Administration recommends that airports have sand storage areas that allow for the ability to heat sand which will improve its adhesion to ice/snow-covered pavements when applied. The new runway sand facility will be built to accommodate the FAAs recommendation and will replace the current facility that is beyond its useful life. No increased operating costs are expected as this building is a replacement of older facilities that had higher operating costs than a new efficient facility. As of December 28, 2023, this project is included in the city’s 2023-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Currently funded for FY2024. Project Status: In Progress. Local matching funds will be used for the planning phase, which is starting in FY23 and construction to begin in FY24. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
