The goal of the project is to build new KHSAA-regulation baseball and softball fields and associated amenities to enable the hosting of home night and postseason games. Construction will be completed in stages with a target of having the new fields available by May 2025. Jackie Risden-Smith, Fairview’s superintendent, said this has been needed for a while. She said, “The renovation of our athletic facilities has been a prioritized need of our district for quite some time. I am grateful for the Board of Education, Westwood community and the Fairview Planning Committee for their commitment to the vision as we start the first stage of this up to $6 million project. “The timing of this announcement could not be better considering the recent release of our district’s annual audit showing continued financial stability,” she added. According to the press release, the first stage of this project includes breaking ground on the softball and baseball fields in early 2024. The completed project will feature state-of-the-art LED sports lighting allowing Fairview to host night games and tournaments.
