Renovation of a municipal facility in Mount Rainier, Maryland. Completed plans call for the renovation of a two-story above grade municipal facility.
A bid security in the amount of Five Percent (5%) of the bid amount in the form of a bid bond shall accompany this bid The City reserves the right to waive formalities or technicalities in bids as the interests of the City may require The City reserves the right to award contracts on a lump sum or an individual item basis or such combination thereof as the interests of the City may require. The manner in which the award will be made is indicated on the Bid Summary Sheet. The Contractor will be required to issue a Maintenance Bond in the amount of 5% of the Contract amount for a period of one year from the date of substantial completion. Such bond will designate the City as the Obligee and the Contractor as the Principal. The Bond shall be executed by the Contractor and a corporate bonding company licensed to transact such business in the State of Maryland. The expense of this Bond shall be borne by the Contractor. If at any time a Surety on any such Bond is declared bankrupt or loses its right to do business in the State of Maryland, the Contractor shall, within 10 days after notice from the Surety Company, substitute an acceptable Bond in such form and sum and signed by such other surety or sureties as may be satisfactory to the City. The premiums on such Bond shall be paid by the Contractor. No further payments shall be deemed due or shall be made until the new surety or sureties shall have furnished an acceptable Bond to the City. Should the Contract price be increased by 25% or more before Final Acceptance, the amount of the Maintenance Bond shall be increased accordingly. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract price and a Payment Bond in the amount of 80% of the contract price. The Mount Rainier Potts Hall/Welcome Center project is a two-story building plus a partial basement connected to the City Hall/Municipal Center building. This Request for Proposals ("RFP") is for the second phase of the work and consists of interior work only for the new two-story lobby, the renovation of the adjacent existing historic Potts Hall, and limited City Hall modifications to connect the City Hall building to the new lobby space (this work, collectively, is "the Project"). The contractor must agree to commence the work on a date to be specified in a written "Notice to Proceed" from the City, anticipated to be no more than 30 days from the date of award, and to substantially complete the Project within 270 calendar days from commencement. The contract will include liquidated damages in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per calendar day for each consecutive calendar day beyond the date of substantial completion.
