New construction of an educational facility in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 59,400-square-foot, three-story above grade educational facility.
Seismic replacement of Prince Rupert Middle School, located at 417 9 Ave W, Prince Rupert, BC. The new school is expected to be designed as a 2 or 3-story 5,500m2 Middle School and built on a newly acquired site adjacent to the existing school building. This site was a former landfill and there are geotechnical challenges due to the presence of compressible organic silt, peat, and clay that must be addressed. Encapsulated mass timber will be used within the construction of the school gym and multi-purpose spaces. The school will meet LEED Gold or equivalent criteria. TIMELINE: Construction is underway.
