Renovation of an educational facility in Iowa City, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

A. This section applies to all work under the fire suppression contract. This shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following: 1. Water Based Fire Suppression Systems 2. Demolition of Fire Suppression Systems B. The work shall include all materials, equipment and labor required for complete and properly functioning fire suppression systems. C. Drawings for fire suppression work are diagrammatic, intended to convey the scope of work and indicate arrangement of equipment, piping and sizes and locations of equipment and materials. D. Where job conditions require reasonable changes in indicated locations and arrangements, make such changes without additional cost to Owner. E. Because of the scale of the drawings, certain piping or items such as unions or fittings may not be shown, but where such items are required by other sections of the specifications, or where they are required by the nature of the work, they shall be furnished and installed. F. All elements of the construction shall be performed by workmen skilled in the particular craft involved, and regularly employed in that particular craft. All workers must possess State of Iowa Fire Marshal Fire Protection System Installer Certifications. Sprinkler contractor must have office within 125 mile radius of Iowa City limits G. All work shall be performed in a neat, workmanlike manner in keeping with the highest standards of the craft. Coordinate with project manager about loud work times, elevator usage, and protection of objects. All work shall be pre-inspected by job foreman prior to inspection final checkout. H. Where partial ceilings "clouds" are provided for architectural reasons, special attention shall be made to the design of the sprinkler system. Heads both above and below the ceiling shall be required where the ceiling is not continuous. I. Where lab benches, library stacks, shelving systems and other permanent furniture, equipment, fixtures or partitions extend within 18 inches of the ceiling, design the sprinkler head layout specifically to coordinate with the layout, lighting, ventilation, and other building features.
