The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) is requesting digital bid proposals for furnishing all labor and materials and performing all work in accordance with the Plans and Specifications and other Contract Documents, known as KTA Contract No. 8008, Sumner County, Kansas. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5 percent of bid and payable to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, which can be uploaded directly to or use the digital bond method. Simultaneously with his delivery of the executed Contract, the Contractor shall furnish a surety bond or bonds as security for faithful performance of this Contract and for the payment of all persons performing labor on the project under this Contract and furnishing materials in connection with this Contract. The surety on such bond or bonds shall be a duly authorized surety company satisfactory to the Authority. The following table is presented for the bidder's reference in locating the project in relation to the Turnpike Interchanges. In addition to the interchanges listed below, various overhead bridges along the Turnpike are equipped with fire gates that may be used to turn around, as approved by the Engineer. During winter shutdown, the Contractor shall have unrestricted traffic restored on all portions of the project and temporary barrier placed to close the median crossovers on I-35 (KTA). Winter shut down shall begin NOVEMBER 16, 2024 and shall continue through MARCH 16, 2025. The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) shall issue the Notice to Proceed after the Contractor executes a Contract with the KTA for the work and complies with all the requirements of the Standard Specifications and Special Provisions relating to issuance of the Notice to Proceed. The Notice to Proceed shall not be issued earlier than March 18, 2024. Proposals must be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5 percent of bid and made payable to the Kansas Turnpike Authority as guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract and give a performance bond as required if awarded the contract. The award of each contract shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Standard Specifications of the Kansas Department of Transportation, edition of 2015, and will be based upon the summation of the products of the unit prices and the approximate quantities. The Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularity therein, to determine which is the lowest responsible bid most suitable to the Authority.
