Have the building inspected to determine all elements related to the drinking water distribution system. Inspect the potable water pipes, pumps, connections, water meters, valves, and all other relevant components, where necessary. Have the building inspected to identify all cross connections. Review and update the plans of the distribution network to ensure the following are present and up to date: cross-connections on the distribution network; backflow preventers on the distribution network; points of consumption (POC) on the distribution network. In buildings with history of lead exceedances (annual potable water report for each location to be provided separately), sample the water service entry pipe for lead and recommend budget for replacement work. Review the operation and maintenance program of the building distribution system and building water treatment system to determine if any improvements are needed. Contact the municipality to ask if the public portion of the water pipe has been replaced (from lead or lead-based pipes). Review the inventory of all water consumption points listed in the annual potable water testing report and verify the information.
