The Town of Barre is seeking bids for both hot mix asphalt paving and milling in one contract. 79,377 sq/yds of Cold Planing and 8,962 tons of asphalt. The Town of Barre is seeking bids for both hot mix asphalt paving and milling in one contract. Take note of the schedule shown below, there are specific scheduling requirements. The HOT-MIX ASPHALT will be 65 gyration Super pave mix. The Contractor shall repave any milled areas within 14 calendar days of milling. The contract will be subject to the 2024 State of Vermont asphalt price adjustment provisions. Questions regarding these instructions and specifications must be directed to Town Engineer Josh Martineau. Questions must be submitted by Friday January 5th, 2024, by email to the Town Engineer at Jmartineau@Barretown.org. There will not be a pre-bid meeting. Potential bidders should visit the roads and must familiarize themselves with conditions. The Select board of Barre Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informality when they deem it to be in the best interest of the Town. Also, the Town reserves the right to alter or reduce the list of streets that are to be milled or paved. Award of contract, if made, is expected at the following Barre Town Select board meeting. The window to complete the work assigned by the Town is July 9, 2024, to September 28, 2024. Contractors shall submit with their bids a tentative schedule for the work to be done. All the paving work is associated with the Town's summer construction projects. Paving will be done after necessary water, sewer and drainage improvements or adjustments are made. The Contractor shall coordinate paving work with the Barre Town Public Works Department and the Barre Town Engineer at least 1 week prior to initiating any schedule of work. Commencing work without prior notice will result in forfeiture of payment for that section of work. The successful bidder must supply the Town with an insurance certificate indicating at least $1,000,000 coverage in worker's compensation, automobile liability, and general liability prior to commencement of work. Bidders may be asked to supply a list of references for similar projects. The Contractor shall warranty materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of completion. Defects and associated repair shall be reviewed with the Town prior to the remedial work. The Contractor or its Subcontractor shall complete all remedial work at no additional cost to the Town. All paving work shall be performed by the Contractor submitting the bid and to whom the purchase order is issued, unless the bidder pre-identifies a Sub-Contractor on the bid form as provided, and the Town approves use of the Sub-Contractor prior to or at the time of the Contract award There will be no separate agreement, but the Town will issue a purchase order to the successful bidder. An invoice will be accepted after the work is completed. Payment will be made within thirty days.
