The City of Hays, Kansas (the City) is issuing a request for proposals (RFP), to provide water service meters and an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system for the City's water utility. The City intends to select metering equipment and an AMI system that is best suited to its needs. The AMI system is expected to have at least a 20-year life. The City currently has approximately 8,630 water service meters, as of November 22, 2023. Approximately 96.77 percent are, 5/8-inch, 3/4-inch or 1-inch meters, and 3.23 percent are larger residential and commercial meters (1.5-inch through 8-inch). The current predominant meter brands are Sensus and Neptune. The meters are currently read by a touch-read Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system. The City reserves the right to reject any and/or all proposals for good cause and to waive any and/or all informalities. Questions should be directed to Tom Howie, at email thowie@haysusa.com.
