A Facilities Assessment of the West Tennessee Regional Forensics Center (WTRFC) building was completed by the Pickering Firm, Inc, an architect and design firm, in FY23. The review consisted of heating and air conditioning system and design, structural integrity, site components, building envelopes, roof, interior walls, finishes, electrical gear/ panels, light fixtures, and plumbing fixtures, fire sprinklers system, Emergency generator, ADA accessibility, and compliance with current adopted building codes, with local amendments. Upon review, Support Services Maintenance leadership concurs with the findings in the assessment and the estimated cost related to remedy each item for immediate needs and long-term needs. WTRFC serves approximately 22 counties making up West Tennessee. The primary function of the building is to provide autopsies and forensic services for West Tennessee. As of November 14, 2025, this project is included in the Shelby County FY26 – FY30 CIP and funding allocated for FY 26, FY 27, and FY 28. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
