**As of February 16, 2024, project was awarded to Sweetens, awarded amount is $49,213.35.** Two copies of the bid must be submitted in a sealed envelope with the project name, date, and time of opening clearly written on the envelope. The Scope of Work includes preparing and sealing of cracks and joints in city streets, providing traffic control and other incidental items as indicated on the construction drawings and specifications. It is anticipated this work will take place in April 2024, weather permitting. These same streets were cracksealed in 2022, or have since been resurfaced/reconstructed, so the amount of material needed should be lower than a first-time application. All bidders are expected to visit the project locations and become familiar with conditions. A detailed Street List and map are included. Bids and payment are to be based upon Centerline Feet, and actual quantities will not be measured in the field. A bid security in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the bid amount must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any bid and to waive any irregularities in the best interest of the City. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check or bank draft on a responsible solvent bank or a satisfactory bid bond executed by the bidder and Surety company and payable to the City of Des Peres, Missouri, in the amount of not less than ten percent (10%) of the Base bid plus the greatest of the Alternate bids. If the bidder fails to enter into a Contract with the City on the terms stated in his bid, or fails to furnish a Performance Bond as required by the Contract Documents, the amount of the Bid Bond shall be forfeited to the City as liquidated damages, not as a penalty. The Contractor, acting as an independent contractor, shall do everything required by the Contract Documents. The Contractor represents and warrants that he has special skills which qualify him to perform the Work in accordance with the Contract and that he is free to perform all such Work and is not a party to any other agreement, written or oral, the performance of which would prevent or interfere with the performance, in whole or in part, of the Work.
