Renovation of a museum in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.

This project includes, but is not limited to, the replacement of the existing cedar shake shingles and ridge vent, painting the wood soffits and fascia, new gutters, flashing at the chimney, wood trim replacement at the dormer, and restoring wood trim and accent railings and both the North, West, and South porches, all in compliance with historical preservation practices and methods. Work will include architectural work. Questions regarding the scope of work should be directed to the Design Professional. Bids will be received for a single General Construction Contract. Bid security shall be agreed upon as the measure of liquidated damages which the Owner will sustain by failure, neglect or refusal of bidder to deliver a signed contract stipulating performance of the Work in unqualified compliance with Contract Documents. Successful bidder will be required to furnish a Contract Performance and Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract sum within ten (10) days after receipt of Notice of Award. Bid Estimate: $136,100.00 Project Information: Substantial Completion: 90 Days (Approximately May 22, 2024) Final Completion: 150 Days (Approximately July 21, 2024) Site Tour(s) Location Meeting Site: Farm House, 601 Farm House Ln, Ames, IA The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive irregularities and to accept that bid which is deemed in the best interest of the Owner. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of 45 calendar days after the date of opening. The Board of Regents, State of Iowa seeks to provide opportunities for Targeted Small Businesses in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 73 of the Code of Iowa. This project has a participation goal of 10% for certified Targeted Small Businesses as specified in the Project Requirements. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the state of Iowa. Included in Base Bid for project: 1. Remove existing wood shingle and install new wood shingle shingle roof system, including repair of sheathing/furring, flashing and trim. 2. Remove existing gutter system and downspouts intact for repainting of wood. Retain and protect from damage during demolition and construction. Note: Removal of all wood and paint to followLead SafeWork Practices. Reinstall gutter system upon the completion of work. 3. Prep and paint soffits and upper banding following. Replace any damaged rotted wood trim with new as specified.
