As of March 25, 2024 project was awarded to K2 Construction, awarded amount is $1,875,001.05. The project is located just north of Interstate 29 and includes erection of pre-engineered steel truss pedestrian bridge over the Big Sioux River. Improvements include grading, storm sewer, retaining wall construction and PCC paving for a 10-foot-wide trail (approximately 2,300 LF) connecting South Dakota and Iowa. The work on this project shall begin upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed, which is anticipated to be March 20, 2024, and be fully completed by September 15, 2024. Each bid must be made on a form furnished by the City and must be accompanied by a bid bond, a cashier's check or certified check of an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Sioux City, Iowa. The check or draft may be cashed by the City Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within the ten (10) days after notice of award and post bond satisfactory to the City ensuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract. However, the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, re-advertise for new bids and to waive informalities that may be in the best interest of the City. At the time of drilling, the ground surface at the boring locations consisted of tall vegetation or was graded.
