Once completed, the final Atlas will be a formal document and digital planning tool used to catalyze innovative nature-based alternative shoreline projects throughout the Bay that will improve long-term resiliency, protect District and Navy assets, create opportunities for carbon sequestration, enhance local habitat and biodiversity, improve accessibility and connectivity to the natural environment, and support additional ecosystem services. The Atlas will consider the effects of risks, hazards, and unanticipated changes in environmental conditions on essential critical resources on Naval Bases Coronado, Point Loma, and San Diego while providing an overall evaluation of San Diego Bay shorelines.
