Completed plans call for the addition of a 100,000-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

Generally, the work includes complete renovation of spaces and systems within the original building as well as add new building construction of nearly 100,000 square feet. Bid Release 1 will prepare the campus for new construction by clearing the campus of buildings and building portions that are no longer required. This Bid Release also starts to prepare the surrounding properties with temporary parking and laydown areas for upcoming construction. Another major aspect of this bid release is to install a temporary modular classroom building that will provide for flex space classrooms during the classroom renovation phases within the 1917 building located at 101 S. Lewis Street in Springfield, IL 62704. Lastly, the bid release includes the early procurement of long lead materials such as electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, and precast concrete. Bids shall include: 1. Properly completed Proposal Form in duplicate. 2. Bid Deposit in the amount of 10% of Bid. 3. Not less than the prevailing hourly wage rate as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor pursuant to Illinois Revised Statutes, Ch. 489, Sec. 39s-1 et. seq. All Bidders shall submit and enclose with their bid a notarized certification that the Contractor is not barred from bidding on the Contract as a result of a violation of either Section 33 E-3 or 33 E4 of Article 33E, Public Act 85-1295 (Senate Bill 2002) effective January 1, 1989. Bids shall be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 10% of Bid, made payable to the Springfield School District #186. Failure of Bidders to submit bid bond or cashier's check in the amount of 10% of the bid shall be cause for rejection of bid. Successful Bidder will be required to provide Surety Performance Bond and Payment Bond, each equal to 100% of the Contract cost on prescribed forms within ten (10) days after notice of acceptance is issued by Owner. Surety on bond shall be by a duly authorized U. S. Treasury Backed company licensed to do business in the State of Illinois, acceptable to Owner. The Board of Education for Springfield School District #186 reserves the right to reject any or all bids and reserves the right to waive any irregularity in bidding, which in their considered opinion is warranted. No bid shall be withdrawn for sixty (60) days after opening of bids without written consent of the Owner.
