The City of Burlington's Water Treatment Plant (WTP) has three (3) 1982 vintage Fairbanks-Morse five-stage 15H-7000 vertical turbine pumps installed in a clearwell. These pumps, designated as finished pumps F5, F6 & F7, have relatively low runtime hours (17K 19K) and have not been started since around 1993. The pumps are coupled to GE 350HP 4160V motors that were maintained and are believed to be in good condition. These pumps, if capable of being put back in service, could be reused for general and emergency finished water pumping operations, adding redundancy and resiliency to WTP operations. Refer to photo and pump data in Exhibit B. In January 2023, pump F5 was craned out of the Water Treatment Plant to determine if the pump was capable of being rebuilt. Peak Motor & Pump in Fairfax, Vermont disassembled the pump and conducted an assessment, determining that pump F5 is capable of being rebuilt. However, due to the anticipated cost of the rehabilitation of all three (3) pumps, the WTP is publicly advertising this request for proposals (RFP), following required City procurement requirements. It is the intent of the WTP to receive proposals for rebuilding all three pumps, including F5 which is currently disassembled and stored at Peak Motor & Pump Questions concerning this RFP shall be emailed to the Point of Contact by no later than Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM (EST).
