The Contracting Officer at Kean University invites sealed Bids for Lump Sum Contract for: Project Name: Kean University Skylands Fire Pump Replacement Project Bid Number: K24-1-25-1 Project Location: Kean University Skylands Campus, 243 Mt. Paul Road, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438 Kean University seeks experienced, qualified bidders for our Skylands Fire Pump Replacement Project. The project proposes the renovation of an existing 136 sq. ft., 1-story accessory structure, known as the "Pumphouse," located at 243 Mount Paul Road in Oak Ridge, NJ. The University uses the Pumphouse building to house fire pump equipment which supports the campus wide fire suppression system. The existing custom equipment was damaged in a recent fire and has since been removed from the existing Pumphouse structure. A temporary fire pump system is currently in place at the facility. This project will install new, permanent custom equipment for the campus wide fire pump system within the existing Pumphouse structure. Construction includes site & utility work, MEP, FP & control systems, (and other work, including carpentry, as indicated in the construction documents). Bidders will be responsible for coordinating with the existing temporary fire pump vendor to assume and maintain temporary services until the project is ready for switchover. If a contract is awarded, the successful bidder shall enter into a contract with Kean University and shall furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond, each equal to 100% of the bid amount submitted. THIS PROJECT CONSISTS OF WORK ASSOCIATED WITH INSTALLING NEW EQUIPMENT IN AN EXISTING STRUCTURE (KNOWN AS THE "PUMPHOUSE") ON THE KEAN UNIVERSITY SKYLANDS CAMPUS. THE EXISTING PUMPHOUSE IS APPROXIMATELY 136 SQUARE FEET, THE STRUCTURE IS CONSTRUCTED PRIMARILY OF POURED IN PLACE CONCRETE. IN A PREVIOUS PROJECT, KEAN UNIVERSITY INSTALLED FIRE PUMP EQUIPMENT SUPPORTING THE CAMPUS FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM WITHIN THE PUMPHOUSE STRUCTURE. THE EXISTING EQUIPMENT RECENTLY CAUGHT ON FIRE AND HAS SINCE BEEN REMOVED FROM WITHIN THE PUMPHOUSE STRUCTURE. THE EXISTING PUMPHOUSE STRUCTURE WAS NOT DAMAGED BY THE EQUIPMENT FIRE. THIS PROJECT WILL INSTALL NEW EQUIPMENT FOR THE CAMPUS FIRE PUMP SYSTEM WITHIN THE EXISTING PUMPHOUSE STRUCTURE.
