The Chaffee County Landfill (Landfill) annually manages 26,000 tons of solid waste and serves local residents, visitors and commercial waste haulers. The County is also in the preliminary planning stages for design and future construction (estimated 2025/2026) of a materials recovery facility (MRF) and transfer station, supported through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Solid Waste Infrastructure For Recycling (SWIFR) grant program.
