Renovation of an educational facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Granite School District (GSD) is requesting the services of a Certified Asbestos Abatement Contractor for demolition and abatement of hazardous materials at Skyline High School, Building 'A', 3251 E 3760 S, Salt Lake City, Utah. Work shall include, but is not limited to: Contractor shall furnish all labor, material, and equipment to perform the work to remove asbestos containing materials and other hazardous materials as indicated in the Specifications and in accordance with Bid Documents, General and Supplemental Conditions of the Construction Contract, and other documents as provided for the performance of this Work. Installation and maintenance of containments, barricades, and other appurtenances to facilitate the removal of hazardous materials and ensure the security of the work area from entry by unauthorized personnel. o Consolidation of chemicals and other hazardous liquids to a central location to be determined, for removal/disposal under a separate contract, prior to commencing abatement. o Demolition/abatement of drywall systems, vinyl tile and mastic, lab counters, and County materials throughout the facility in preparation for building demolition. Building demolition to be performed under separate contract. GSD reserves the right to award to award to the next low bidder if for any reason the low bid is not responsive, is withdrawn, rejected, disqualified or the bidder fails to perform. ) Workers' Compensation Insurance and Employers' Liability Insurance providing statutory benefits (including Coverage B). Employers Liability Insurance limits shall provide at least the following limits of liability: $100,000 for each accident; $500,000 for disease (Policy limit); and $100,000 for disease (each employee). Contractor shall require all Subcontractors at any tier to take and maintain similar policies of Workers' Compensation Insurance. Invitations for bids for construction contracts estimated to exceed $50,000 shall require the submission of a bid bond (or the equivalent in cash) in an amount equal to at least 5% of the bid, at the time the bid is submitted A performance bond and a payment bond, executed by a surety company authorized to do business in the state and listed in the U.S. Department of the Treasury Circular 570, are required for all construction contracts in excess of $50,000, in the amount of 100% of the contract price. The performance and payment bonds shall be delivered by the contractor to the procurement unit within fourteen days of the contractor receiving notice of the award of the construction contract. If a contractor fails to deliver the required bonds, the contractor's bid/offer shall be rejected, its bid security may be enforced, and award of the contract may be made to the responsible bidder or offeror with the next lowest responsive bid or highest ranked offer. Commercial General Liability Insurance and/or Comprehensive General Liability Insurance, including coverage for premises/operations, explosion, collapse, and underground hazards, products/completed operations, contractual (including this Contract), and personal injury, including employees, with limits of not less than $1,000,000 each occurrence, and not less than $2,000,000 general aggregate, and $2,000,000 products/completed operations aggregate. Aggregate limit shall be designated as applying to this Contract. If this insurance coverage is written on a "claims-made" basis, the Certificate of Insurance required below shall so indicate and the policy shall contain GSD will assess $1,000.00, per calendar day, as liquidated damages for the late completion of the project. GSD may assess a $1,000.00, per calendar day, penalty for the late start of the Project. Question Deadline 02/27/2024 at 5:00 PM PT Work shall include, but is not limited to: 1. Installation and maintenance of containments, barricades, and other appurtenances to facilitate the removal of hazardous materials and ensure the security of the work area from entry by unauthorized personnel. 2. Consolidation of chemicals and other hazardous liquids to a central location to be determined, for removal/disposal under a separate contract, priorto commencing abatement. 3. Demolition/abatement of drywall systems, vinyl tile and mastic, lab counters, and County materials throughout the facility in preparation for building demolition. Building demolition to be performed under separate contract. 4. Demolition/abatement of fire door slab(s) and frame(s), TSI mudded joints, and transite pipe on a unit price basis. 5. Demolition/abatement of existing cabinetry to remove vinyl tile and mastic in rooms where tile and mastic has been removed by previous abatement contract and in rooms where such materials are to be removed under this Scope of Work. 6. Removal, transportation, and proper disposal of all materials off-site at in-state waste facilities appropriate for the disposed materials. 7. Notifications to proper authorities, as required.
