Renovation of an educational facility in Madison, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 150,000-square-foot educational facility.
Polson Middle School HVAC Modernization, Electrical Power and Distribution Upgrade, Auditorium Modernization The Work includes renovation of the Auditorium and Gymnasium, power upgrades to the existing electrical service along with installation of a new generator, and HVAC upgrades. Question Deadline 09/02/2025 at 5:00 PM ET Each Bid shall be accompanied by a bid security in the form of a Bid Bond in an amount not less than Ten Percent (10%) of the total amount of the base bid. Said Bid Bond shall be issued by a surety that is licensed to do business in the State of Connecticut and is rated A-(VII) or better by A.M. Best. The bid security shall be drawn in favor of Gilbane Building Company. Bids received without such bid bond will be considered non-responsive and therefore rejected, no exceptions. In the event of a re-bid, each bid must be accompanied by a new Bid Bond. Bid Bonds submitted for previous bids are not valid and will not be accepted. Bids received for re-bids without such bid bond will be considered non-responsive and therefore rejected, no exceptions. Reference Section 1iv Trade Contract Bid Bond Form in the Gilbane Project Manual. The Work includes renovation of the Auditorium and Gymnasium, power upgrades to the existing electrical service along with installation of a new generator, and HVAC upgrades. The Auditorium scope includes abatement of ACM flooring and gypsum ceilings followed by a new RTU (replacement), lighting, ceilings, flooring, seating, theatrical A/V and lighting, theatrical rigging, and finish improvements to the stage surround. The Gymnasium scope includes two new replacement AHUs and ductwork, painting of walls and exposed roof decking and joists, refinishing of the wood floor, and new motorized bleachers. The power upgrades scope of work includes a new 1500KW generator, new 4000A service and switchgear (in a new location separate from the existing main electrical room), new electrical panels and feeders for the new HVAC equipment, and new lighting in approximately half of the corridors. The HVAC scope includes six new RTUs (two of which are replacements) serving the gym, auditorium, and other spaces. The scope also includes replacement furnaces and dampers in nine existing-to-remain penthouses along with new condensers adjacent to the penthouses. New VRF cassette systems will be provided in three classroom wings serving approximately twenty-five classrooms. New RTU and condenser support steel will be provided at approximately eleven locations. The following work will occur in late winter/ early spring of 2026: VRF rough-in (second shift), some of the steel work to support RTUs and condensers (off-hours), power rough-in (RGS raceways) on the roof for the HVAC equipment and several new panels (normal working hours), and fitout of the new main electrical room (normal working hours) which includes slab-on-grade demolition and setting of switchgear and electrical rough-in.
