Renovation of the Steele Ice House The Town of Boxborough, MA is soliciting written responses for construction and repair services in connection with the preservation/renovation of the Steele Farm Ice House located at 484 Middle Road. Questions concerning the terms of this request, must be submitted in writing by mail, fax or e-mail to: The Office of the Town Administrator, Town Hall, 29 Middle Road, Boxborough, MA 01719 or townadmin@boxborough-ma.gov before 12:00 PM on May 9, 2024 These are the key areas of work and construction that we are requesting services for are the following: Roof Remove the existing roofing and replace it with 1/2 " red cedar shingles with sheathing or membrane under the shingles as needed. 300 sq. ft to cover. Sidewall All existing white cedar shingles to be removed and replaced throughout with white cedar shingles 4" to weather. 590 sq. feet to cover. There are existing shingles onsite (sizes include 1/4 and 1/3) that can be used in this process to limit the amount shingles that would have to be ordered. Exterior Trim 5/4X6 inch square edge, white pressure treated pine, or equivalent, corner boards, rakes, roof cap. 190 linear feet. Barn Doors Replace three existing ice house doors to match the existing doors. Pressure treated pine or equivalent is needed. Hoisting Beam Replace only if necessary. We could chop the end off and have it the other end not go all the way to the back of the ice house. The beam is 5"6"X12'
