The City of Bingen is seeking bids from a licensed certified arborist for a contract to carry out tree maintenance per a prescribed tree maintenance program. The city will contract with a certified arborist who may hire subcontractors to perform some of the work. All work must be performed by or under the supervision of a certified arborist. Work to be Completed 1. Daubenspeck Park a. Little Leaf Lindens: Prune trees to remove dead wood 2" in diameter and greater. Lift canopies to correct previous pruning cuts and increase sunlight to grass. Thin where needed to improve structure, reduce risk of limb failure and improve appearance. b. Kwanza Cherries: Prune trees to remove deadwood 1" diameter and greater. Provide clearance from parking lot, bathrooms and nearby signage. Reduce the size of long overgrown limbs. c. Oregon White Oak, West side of skatepark: Prune out large dead wood. Thin to reduce weight. d. Large Cottonwood, skatepark: Prune off low hanging limbs. Remove large dead wood. 2. SR-14/Steuben Street a. Red Maple tree shaping: Balance previous pruning cuts for a more symmetrical appearance. Use crown reduction where needed to improve future growth, increase wind resilience, reduce risk of limb failure and improve appearance. b. Advise on applying growth suppressant (Paclobutraol) to trees to slow issues of outgrowing designated areas. Work should be completed late March/early April 2024 before the growth season commences. Prevailing wages for pubic works project shall be paid by the contractor as required by Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
