75955 Geisel Library HVAC Upgrades Prequalified Subcontractors-Various 03.A Concrete C-8 $660,000 concrete retrofit work including but not limited to CIP elevated slabs, wall, and equipment pads Upgrade the existing HVAC systems of the originally constructed portion of Geisel Library by replacement/refurbishment of the existing air handling units and other mechanical infrastructure. This will primarily be accomplished though conversion of the existing dual duct design by addition of a heating hot water loop and VAV's with heating coils. This project also includes minor structural/seismic retrofit consisting of new concrete wall openings and fiber reinforced polymers (FRP). The projects estimated construction duration is 672 calendar days. PCL Construction Services, Inc. (hereinafter "CM/Contractor") was selected through a previous recruitment and is the CM/Contractor for this UC San Diego project. PCL Construction Services, Inc, is responsible for bidding and awarding all subsequent subcontractor bid packages, including these bid packages. The successful Lowest responsive bidder shall sign a Subcontract Agreement directly with PCL Construction Services, Inc. and shall be bound by all the terms of the Prime Contract Agreement between the University and CM/Contractor. Refer to the Prime Contract Agreement, which contains the contract agreement between University and CM/Contractor, attached to the subcontract bidding documents and incorporated by this reference. The successful lowest responsive bidder will be required to be licensed by the State of California, Contractors State License Board, at time of bid with license(s) as indicated above for the specific scope of work. Scope of Work Descriptions above are only summary descriptions. Scope of Work is as specified in the complete bidding documents. NOTES: (General) 1. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the contract between the University and the CM/Contractor, and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. 2. The work included in this bid package is public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of the Project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. 3. The project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. ALL CONTRACTORS AND SUBCONTRACTORS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS (DIR) AT BID TIME. 4. The University and PCL Construction Services, Inc. are committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) relating to all goods and services covered under the awarded agreement, subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies. The awarded subcontractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. Prebid RFI Deadline: Tuesday March 12th, 2024 at 4:00 PM Any questions related to the bid and or the bid documents shall be submitted in writing in the form of an RFI. All RFI's are to be emailed to Mike Gibbons at mgibbons@pcl.com. The deadline to submit RFI's is Tuesday March 12th, 2024, by 4:00PM. Only prequalified subcontractors are allowed to submit a bid for the Project. Refer to the Prequalified Subcontractors list for complete list of Subcontractors prequalified to submit a bid on the Project. Pre bid conference info: Subcontractors attendance at one (1) of the two (2) Prebid Conferences is not mandatory but highly recommended. The CM/Contractor will provide an overview of the bidding process, provide a project overview and other information. Pre bid job walk info: Subcontractors attendance at one (1) of the two (2) Prebid Job Walks is MANDATORY. The job walk will provide prospective subcontractors the opportunity to see the Project and gain understanding of the site constraints and the existing building components. No parking will be allowed at the loading dock, see "Haul Routes" included with the Information Available to Bidders for mapped directions to the loading dock area.
