Location of the project is the William Houck Area, 850 acres of Cunningham Falls State Park located at 5783 Campground Drive, Thurmont, Maryland 21788 in Frederick County. Highlights of the Houck Area include a fullservice campground, lake with guarded swimming beach, and the park's namesake falls. The William Houck Area is located on the eastern slopes of Catoctin Mountain overlooking the Hauver Branch of Big Hunting Creek. The proposed trail winds though a mature upland forest typical of central Frederick County; a mix of native hardwoods with a relatively open understory. Sideslopes in project area are moderate, 10% to 50%. Soils are predominantly gravelly clay loam with significant rock content. It is routine for there to be significant rock outcroppings on the surface. All questions or issues pertaining to this solicitation must be submitted to the Procurement Officer via email by March 22, 2024 @ 2:00 pm EST Construction of a trail which more fully links the camping facilities of Cunningham Falls State Park's William Houck Area into the rest of the Day Use amenities as outlined in the Scope of Work within the IFB.
