Submit RFI's as soon as a potential issue is discovered to allow Engineer Erosion control shall be employed during the construction period and shall include all necessary temporary measures required to prevent soil erosion and sediment loss from the site until permanent erosion control and finished surfaces are installed. This includes dewatering excavated areas and sumps in a manner that prevents sediment from leaving the work area. A continuing program of installation and maintenance of sediment control shall be employed during the construction period. B. Contractor shall achieve the following goals: 1. Minimize soil exposure by proper timing of grading and construction. 2. Retain existing vegetation whenever feasible. 3. Vegetate and mulch denuded areas as soon as possible. 4. Divert runoff away from denuded areas. 5. Provide the means and methods necessary to dewater excavated areas and sumps. 6. Minimize length and steepness of slopes when it is practical. 7. Reduce runoff velocities with sediment barriers or by increasing roughness with stone. 8. Trap sediment on site. 9. Inspect and maintain erosion control measures.
