As of July 16, 2025, this project is in the design phase. A civil engineer has been selected. A timeline for construction has not yet been established. *Previous solicitation listed below for reference:* Cartwright Park currently consists of historic chapel ruins with interpretive panels, a highly visible and well used park, green space, stormwater infrastructure, utilities (water, sewer, electrical), landscaping, and amenities for bicycles and pedestrians. Adjacent to Cartwright Park is a playground (Dare County Parcel #025598000) and an undeveloped piece of property (Dare County Parcel #025600000). The Town of Manteo will be conducting public participation planning sessions to receive citizen input on the future design of the Park. There will also be a steering committee involved in the planning process that will include citizens, representatives from the AME Zion Church and Town officials.
