Site work for a civil project in Macrorie, Saskatchewan. Design plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Westside Irrigation Rehabilitation Project (WIP). The project is a multi-generational, visionary large-scale conceptual irrigation project with potential for up to 340,000 acres of irrigation supplied from Lake Diefenbaker. Located in south-central Saskatchewan, the project area is bounded by Lake Diefenbaker, the South Saskatchewan River to the east and the North Saskatchewan. Phase 1 of the larger WIP project, is consistent with the original vision from the 1960's and located between Lake Diefenbaker and the Ardath-Swanson area north-east of the Conquest Reservoir. This infrastructure was partially completed in the 1970s. The existing works are still somewhat used by the Macrorie Irrigation District; however, robust rehabilitation and some expansion of the existing infrastructure is expected to be required. It is estimated that as a result of the future rehabilitation and expansion of this existing infrastructure, up to 90,000 acres of irrigation potential will be provided. TIMELINE: Engineering design is ongoing. Project is proceeding through an environmental impact assessment and the owner is currently seeking an external reviewer for participation. Construction start is currently planned for late 2026.
