The City of South Gate (City) owns and operates a municipal water system with an estimated 135 miles of water mains and eight active water wells. Groundwater extracted from some of the water wells is impacted by PFAS. As such, Well 14, 18, and 22-B were voluntarily shut down to preserve water quality at optimal levels. The City is taking steps to mitigate this issue by constructing treatment removal systems one of which is proposed at South Gate Park. The City is seeking proposals from qualified Consultants to provide professional services for the design and construction of the Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Treatment System at the South Gate Park reservoir site, located at 4900 Southern Ave, South Gate, CA 90280, in Los Angeles County.
