The City of Davis is seeking proposals from qualified engineering firms for professional services related to the design and preparation of construction plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for the removal and replacement of existing Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units with energy-efficient HVAC units at: 2600 5th St, Davis, CA 95618. The current HVAC systems have reached the end of their useful life and no longer perform optimally nor efficiently, necessitating this call for proposals to replace them with modern units that meet or exceed current standards for energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and indoor air quality. The selected engineering firm will be tasked with conducting a comprehensive assessment of the current HVAC system and units, designing a replacement plan that aligns with all current standards including providing all required regulatory calculations (title 24) and building load calculations to properly size the replacement HVAC units/ducting/registers/roof loading and structural calculations. While, these new units must be compatible with the buildings current HVAC system and controls, if heat pumps are a viable solution, we would like those considered. As well as preparing detailed construction documents at 60%, 90% and 100% (final) design stages that will be used in the subsequent bidding process for the installation phase. The selected firm will also provide bid and construction support. The contract will commence at the date the agreement is signed, and the anticipation is that the final plans and specifications will be ready for bid by September 2024 construction notice to proceed.
