** As of July 3, 2024 , this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established.** The existing Community Park Skate Park, located at 203 East Fourteenth Street, Davis, CA 95616, needs to be reconstructed. Design-Build firms or design-build teams that have been prequalified by the City in response to this Request for Qualifications ("RFQ") will be eligible to submit proposals in response to the City's subsequent Request for Proposals ("RFP") for the Project. The Design Build firms/teams must be appropriately licensed and registered in the State of California for architectural, engineering, and construction services as needed to complete the Project. In addition, firms/teams must have completed both design and construction of at least 3 skate park facilities within the last five years (note that the designed parks may overlap with the built parks, as applicable). Experience with at least three (3) Skate Parks is preferred. Additionally, experience with at least three (3) public works park projects under Public Contract Code 2601 is preferred. The Design Build firms/teams must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations ("DIR") as required by law. The selected Design Build firm/team will be required to comply with the Labor Code prevailing wage and shall be required to work cooperatively City staff, any technical consultants retained by the City for the Project, and the community, to facilitate timely and professional completion of the Project. The selected firm will be required to; 1) enter into an Agreement for Contract Services with the City of Davis; 2) design a proposed skate park with input from Community users and prepare appropriate construction documents; 3) build a skate park based on the firm's proposal; and 4) complete the construction on-time and on budget. The City has a budget of approximately $1,000,000 for design and construction of this project, which includes costs for staff support, construction management, inspection and materials testing. The existing skate park was constructed in or around 1992 with additional concrete expansion and fencing improvements made in 1995, and is comprised of approximately 11,000 square feet of concrete skate park plus an additional 3,000 or so square feet of asphalt accessways/entry spaces. Requested improvements include, but are not limited to: o Demolition of the existing skate park slabs, electrical/lighting systems, and drainage o Construction of replacement concrete skate park and drainage o Re-installation of existing fence or new fence o Installation of vandalism-resistant lighting o A "Community Expression" wall or other space for changing ad hoc artwork o Re-paving of the existing asphalt accessways The skate park shall be designed with ease of maintenance, vandalism resistance, functionality/usability and character of the park in mind. Adjacent trees and through utilities will need to be protected in place. The city has engaged in an outreach program to gain user input for the desired features of the replacement skate park. It is anticipated that the chosen design-build firm will conduct additional outreach as appropriate. A preliminary list of "wish list" items for the skate park compiled from community members is as follows, to be evaluated and discussed during the design process: o Areas for both beginner and advanced users o Removal of the existing "Snake Run" feature o More shade o Picnic tables and/or spectator seating o The below 15 specific features were noted to be of interest during initial community surveys (listed in order of mentions) Request for Information Due May 3, 2024 Questions about this RFQ are required to be submitted via email to Project Manager by May 7, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Questions submitted after the due date or via phone will not be accepted. All substantive questions and answers will be posted below (PDF format) and distributed to applicants.
