The Island Street infrastructure project proposes replacement of underground utilities including: 1,420 feet of water main; 2,580 feet of sewer main; 1,450 feet of storm drainage piping; 1,420 square yards of 4 and 8-inch sidewalks and base; 2,380 feet of granite curbing; road reconstruction including more than 3,500 cubic yards of base gravels and 1,500 tons of asphalt pavement. Project scope: Excavation/ removal of asphalt (8,350 SY), concrete road (4,500 SY) & sidewalk (70SY). Importing/ rehandling, placement, compaction & maintenance oftemporary road gravels. Underground utility construction: Storm drain (1,480 LF), sanitary sewer (2,620 LF), water mains (1,470 LF) including installation, alteration, and adjustment ofutility structures. Road base construction (+/- 3,500 CY). Install/ reset vertical granite curb (+/- 2,400 LF). Concrete sidewalk (+/- 1,450 SY) & base gravel (525 CY). Asphalt paving (+/-1,575 Tons). Pavement markings, install/ relocate/ remove signs, signal coordination. Maintenace ofTraffic: Traffic and detour plan, signage, flaggers, barriers, dust control. The proposed improvements, hereinafter called the Work, is located on Island Street from the Ashuelot River bridge to West Street. Excavation to include removal of concrete roadway and asphalt surfaces, uncovering utility structures, test pits, and removal ofunsuitable material. Construction of +/- 1,450 L.F. of 12"-24" drain pipe and fourteen precast concrete catch basins. Construction of +/- 2,580 L.F. of 6 and 8-inch PVC sewer, including eight precast concrete manholes, and multiple 6-inch sewer service connections. Construction of a temporary water system and +/- 1,420 L.F. of 6',-16',-inch ductile iron watermain, fire hydrants, domestic and fire service connections. Coordination with Liberty Utilities for the replacement of gas mains (by others) following removal ofthe concrete road. Reconstruction, replacement, or grade adjustment of utility surface structures, including protection ofwork and maintaining road access through all phases ofthe project. Preparation and construction of +/- 3,500 C.Y. of base gravel, and +/- 1,500 Tons of asphalt binder and wear courses. 8. Preparation and construction of +/- 2,380 L.F. of vertical granite curbing and +/- 1,420 S.Y. of 4" and 8" concrete sidewalks with detectable warning panels. 9. Retro-reflective paint pavement markings, landscape grading, signage, or other incidentals included in the plans and details. 10. Bid Add Alternate #1 includes replacement of traffic signal at West and Island Streets, associated underground electrical conduit, pull boxes, signage and appurtenances.
