The City of Hays Water Resources Department is accepting proposals for 2024 Manhole Rehabilitation project. The proposal should clearly demonstrate how the firm can best satisfy the requirements of the City of Hays. The construction materials vary, but are generally brick and mortar, precast concrete, and cast-in-place concrete. The condition of the manholes varies but are typically in low pH environments. Manholes may be experiencing some or all of the following issues: Loss of bricks and mortar Hydrogen sulfide corrosion and subsequent concrete reactions Damage from freeze/thaw cycles Inflow and infiltration Erosion Ground settlement or shifting Depths range from a few feet to just under20 feet. This project includes 102 manholes at approximately 741 vertical feet. The City of Hays has budgeted $150,000 for the 2024 Manhole Rehabilitation project. It is the City's intent to spend up to this amount for this project. The contractor may advise the city of recommended methods of rehabilitation but will stay under the budgeted amount. This could reduce the total manholes completed for this project. We are asking the contractor to make a recommendation of manholes that require additional treatment beyond a base treatment. Right of the City of Hays to Reject Proposals The City of Hays reserves the right to reject any and all proposals or any part of any proposals, to waive minor defects or technicalities, or to solicit new proposals on the same project or on a modified project that may include portions of the originally proposed project as the City of Hays may deem necessary in its best interest. The City also reserves the right to negotiate with any firm, all or part of any proposal that is in the best interest of the City. Warranty period: Contractor shall provide written warranty, with a minimum period of 1 year, from final acceptance of the project. Warranty shall cover workmanship and materials.
