Demolition and site work for an educational facility in Franklin, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the demolition of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
Project Hiring a contractor to provide the labor and equipment to demolish four modular classrooms at the JFK Elementary School and to remove and dispose of debris in accordance with EPA and Massachusetts laws. Work on this project will commence on July 1, 2024 and must be completed no later than July 31, 2024. Contractor shall provide the Town with a 50% payment bond. If you have any questions please contact Pam Vickery at 5085534835 The work outlined in thisrequest for written quotes is to fully demolish and remove all debris from a 4 classroom modular addition and its associated hallways that were added to the JFK School in the late 1990's. The modular buildings were trucked to the site partially framed and sheathed on a metal sub-frame from the builder's warehouse. The rest ofthe building was constructed onsite. The building is sheathed with T-lll siding over 2/6 wall studs and insulated with fiberglass insulation. Roof framing was accomplished with 2 x 12's and plywood decking. The roofs are insulated on the top side with Polyisio insulation and have an EPDM roof. Gravel stop edge metal surrounds the roof perimeter and some areas have aluminum gutters and downspouts. It is the Contractor's responsibility to notify Dig Safe prior to any work taking place Contractor is required to pull a Building/Demolition Permit from the Town's Building Department. Fees for that permit will be waived. Areas where the original building's entrance were filled in by the modular company will be removed and disposed of taking extra care so as to not damage the main building during the process. Any terminations bars or wood attached to the building will be removed as well as the fasteners anchoring such. All skirting and any materials used under the building as a vapor barrier or shoring on the Sonatube footings will be removed as part of this contract. Area will be left clean with no construction debris at the completion of the demolition phase. Wooden decks will be demoed with the building and removed. The concrete footings and any concrete will be removed and disposed of under this contract. Salvage of any materials after turnover to the demolition contractor is acceptable. Removal and disposal of the heating and cooling units will be the responsibility of the Contractor. Contractor will be responsible for disposing of the heating cooling rooftop units on the buildings. Demolition Guidelines: General demolition using methods required to complete the work within limitations of governing regulations and as follows: o Do not use cutting torches until work area is clear offlammable materials o Maintain portable fire-suppression devices during flame-cutting operations o Maintain adequate ventilation when using cutting torches o Locate building demolition equipment and remove debris and material so as to not impose excessive loads on supporting walls, floors, or framing Site Access and Temporary Controls: Conduct building demolition and debris removal operations to ensure minimum interference with roads, streets, walks, walkways, and other adjacent occupied and used facilities (School). Monitor and keep dust under reasonable control. Use of explosives is not permitted. Removal and disposal ofthe heating and cooling units will be the responsibility ofthe Contractor. Contractor will be responsible for disposing ofthe heating cooling rooftop units on the buildings. Demolition will be performed by mechanicalmeans. Proceed with demolition ofstructural framing members systematically from higher to lower level. Complete building demolition operations above each floor or tier before disturbing supporting members on the next lower level. Remove debris from elevated portions ofthe building that debris is conveyed to grade level in a controlled fashion. Repairs of damage to adjacent building caused by demolition operators must be completed promptly. Disposal ofDemolished Materials: o Remove waste material from project site ad legally dispose of in an EPA-Approved landfill acceptable to the authorities havingjurisdiction. o Do not bum demolished materials. o Recycle construction materials that are required to be recycled under the laws of the Commonwealth ofMassachusetts. o All debris and building materials resulting from the demolition process shall become the property ofthe Contractor and disposed of at Contractor's expense. o The successful bidder shall perform the work in the order as detailed by the owner. Contractors are required to maintain a high level ofperformance. The Contractor's work must be performed in a competent and professional manner. The job site must be left in a neat and finished condition. Contractors must be capable ofsupplying all required equipment and/or services. All personnel must be duly trained by contractor and be of good moral character suitable to work in the vicinity ofschool age children. Contractor's invoices must be complete, accurate, and identify materials and services performed. Copies of certified payrolls and OSHA 10 are to be completed and submitted with all invoices.
