Saving Project...

Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in University Place, Washington. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

Summary This multi-agency project between University Place, Lakewood and Pierce County will fulfill a long-standing community desire to connect the cities of University Place and Lakewood, via a pedestrian walking trail. This trail will be constructed within the Pierce County owned Chambers Creek Canyon, which is located between the two cities. The project will consist of approximately 2,000 linear feet of boardwalk, (2) timber bridges, (4) timber stairs, and (1) 175 foot suspension bridge. There are various entry points for access of small construction equipment and construction personnel, but access for the large building components will be limited and assumptions have been made that some equipment will need to be delivered or installed via helicopter or cable-lines. In the trail's final condition, there will be access to the trail at Chambers Creek Road in University Place, Kobayashi Park in University Place, and Zircon Drive SW in Lakewood. Background The idea of creating a trail system through Chambers Creek Canyon was first introduced in 1997 by the city of University Place during their master planning review. Since then, numerous reviews of the site and topography have determined the best route for the trail, including the most viable locations for crossing Chambers Creek and Peach Creek. Due to the complexities of the property, the project was broken up into Phase 1 and Phase 2 in 2020. Phase 1 of the project was completed in 2022 and included installation of a prefabricated bridge over Chambers Creek near Kobayaski Park, and some trail improvements at the entrance of Chambers Creek Road. Question Submission Deadline: May 2, 2024, 4:00pm Chambers Creek Canyon Trail - Phase 2 Construct a new trail, boardwalk, timber bridges, timber stairs, and one suspension bridge. The proposed work includes all necessary permits, fees, materials, equipment, labor and related items to construct the facility and improvements to the property located at Chambers Creek Canyon located in University Place, WA as shown on the Contract Drawings and Specifications. Work generally includes, but is not limited to: mobilization, temporary construction fencing, temporary erosion and sediment control, existing vegetation protection, clearing and grubbing, earthwork, micro pile installation, steel fabrication, steel erection, timber, and site cleanup.
