The Sacramento County is seeking to further develop its Safe Stay Communities by soliciting qualified manufacturers to provide and deliver prefabricated modular buildings. These buildings will be used for a variety of purposes, including; bathrooms, showers, laundry rooms, community spaces, dining halls, computer labs, office spaces, and security rooms. The County will contract with contractors to prepare the site in preparation to receive the modular buildings. Site preparation includes grading of the land, installation of sanitary sewer, potable water, electrical services, land, and hard scape features to the site. The final step is the installation of the modular buildings themselves. A key objective of this plan is to create not just shelters, but a communal environment for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The Sacramento County has been establishing shelters, called Safe Stay Communities, for local unhoused community members. These communities provide a safe and sanitary environment for these individuals to stay at. There are bathroom and shower trailers, laundry services, computer labs, pet relief areas, and an entertainment space. The communities can also connect guests with transportation resources for off-site needs such as medical appointments or getting to work. The long term goal of these communities is to provide the support necessary for individuals to eventually move into permanent housing.
