Lone Ranch Creek is an east-to-west oriented creek that flows under Albin Avenue and Day Creek Road and into the Kettle River to the west. Albin Avenue is a one-lane rural roadway that connects to Lone Ranch Creek Road at the north and services a single residence about 0.5 miles to the south. Day Creek Road is a two-lane rural roadway that connects to Lone Ranch Creek Road at the north and services several residences to the south. We understand from the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) that the existing double CMP culverts at Site #1 are proposed to be replaced with a 40- to 50-foot single span bridge supported by precast concrete abutments founded about 3 to 5 feet below existing road grade. The existing single CMP culvert at Site #2 is proposed to be replaced with a 3-sided box culvert supported by precast strip footings founded about 10 to 12 feet below existing road grade. Aspects role in this study was to investigate subsurface conditions at both Sites and provide geotechnical engineering conclusions and recommendations for the design and construction of foundations for the new bridge and box culvert at Sites #1 and #2, respectively. Per WDFWs request, the scope of our work is limited to provisions of vertical and lateral foundation design parameters and subgrade preparation for shallow foundation support of the new bridge and box culvert. Ancillary geotechnical design/construction recommendations, such as temporary excavations, construction dewatering, seismic parameters for design, pavements, and Site restoration, are excluded from this scope of work and report.
