Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Reading, Pennsylvania. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

Questions regarding this request can be directed to grodrigues@berkspa.gov. Weidners Mill Bridge, County Bridge #34E, carries Levengood Road over Manatawny Creek in Amity Township, Berks County. The existing structure, currently weight restricted at 11 Tons, Except Combinations 17 Tons and designated as Structurally Deficient, was constructed in 1961 and is a single span supported on concrete abutments with a span length of 101'. The roadway width on the bridge is 32.3' out to out. The bridge has an average daily traffic (ADT) of 203 cars per day, as measured in 2022. Deysher's Bridge, County Bridge #40A, carries Swamp Creek Road over the west branch of Swamp Creek in Colebrookdale Township, Berks County. The existing structure, currently weight restricted at 20 Tons, Except Combinations 22 Tons and designated as Structurally Deficient, was constructed in 1974 and is a single span supported on concrete abutments with a span length of 78'. The roadway width on the bridge is 41.3' out to out. The bridge has an average daily traffic (ADT) of 1,843 cars per day, as measured in 2022. The new structures will meet current PennDOT design and safety standards as applicable and will be constructed in accordance with PennDOT Publication 408 while providing a context-sensitive design approach. It is anticipated that design and construction funding will be 100% Act 13 Fee for Local Use. Berks County encourages responses from small firms, minority firms, and firms who have not previously performed work for the County. The following factors, listed in order of importance with weighted percentages, will be considered by the County during the evaluation of the business partners submitting statements of interest: o Specific experience of the individuals listed for each position that constitutes the proposed project team with emphasis on their background in working for and familiarity with PennDOT procedures and specifications. Past Experience with a similar role on PennDOT projects. o Review of the consultant's overall bridge design experience, abilities, project concept and approach. o Project Manager's experience with similar projects. o How will you pursue project delivery in related to developing and/or meeting a realistic design schedule and completing the project within budget The statement of interest shall, at a minimum, include the following: o A concise narrative describing the project including replacement alternatives and any special considerations (5 pages max.) o U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Form 330 (Resumes should be of key people stating their specific role in the project and project descriptions must include client contact information and emphasize areas of expertise) o References for similar projects (a minimum of 5) o List any subconsultants that will be used for this project and their role/responsibility. Please provide resumes and project references for each subconsultant o A design schedule o Statement of current and anticipated workload for the proposed project team
