Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Cheshire, Connecticut. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
The existing bridge located just east of the linear trail has been designated for planned replacement. This structure dates from 1960. Replacement should occur within the next five years, and this project will be a candidate for partial state reimbursement funding. The cost is based on recent proposals received for similar bridge replacement projects. The expected useful life of a new bridge is 50 years. The project is include in the City's 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
