IL DOT - 111 - Traffic Signal Modernization, Left Turn Lanes Includes Resurfacing on IL 7 This work shall consist of the complete removal and replacement of curb or combination curb and gutter. Work shall be according to Sections 440 and 606 of the Standard Specifications, State Standard 606001, District Detail BD-24 and as directed by the Engineer except as modified herein. Curb or combination curb and gutter removal and replacement shall match the type of the existing curb or combination curb and gutter. Types may be variable and are to meet existing dimensions and field conditions. Locations of removal and replacement shall be determined by the Resident Engineer at the time of construction. Unsuitable material to be removed, as directed by the Engineer, shall be replaced with subbase granular material, type B or additional thickness of concrete. Suitable backfill material, when required, shall be replaced as directed by the Engineer. Epoxy coated tie bars, #6 (20) - 24" (610) long at 24" (610) centers, shall be used except when adjacent to flexible pavement. Longitudinal bars, if encountered, are not to be replaced. Hot-mix asphalt surface removal on the existing gutter flag, if encountered, shall be included in the removal of the curb and gutter. 1/2 " (13) preformed expansion joints shall be used at concrete sidewalks, driveways and medians. This work shall consist of furnishing, installing, maintaining, relocating for various states of construction and eventually removing temporary informational signs. Included in this item may be ground mount signs, skid mount signs, truss mount signs, bridge mount signs, and overlay sign panels which cover portions of existing signs. This work shall consist of optimizing a traffic signal system. All conduits shall enter the handhole at a depth of 30 in. (762 mm) except for the conduits for detector loops when the handhole is less than 5 ft (1.52 m) from the detector loop. All conduit ends should be sealed with a waterproof sealant to prevent the entrance of contaminants into the handhole.
