Update: The purpose of this project is to ensure reliable operation of the Dewatering & Drying dryer exhaust duct, provide a duct with an expected life of at least 20 years, and reduce existing safety and operational risks associated with the existing duct. Continued duct operation is important as this allows routing of the dryer exhaust to the stack, instead of routing dryer exhaust through the roof vents in Dewatering & Drying. Routing of exhaust through the roof vents, although not a violation of the District's air permit, presents several risks. Project costs increase due to higher design and labor costs.
