The purpose of this project is to construct shaded fuel breaks (much like a pre-commercial thinning) to reduce fire intensity and spread potential within important watersheds. These fuel breaks will ultimately form a network that connects natural fire barriers and areas of lower fire intensity (such as aspen groves) to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires to important drinking water sources and courses, crucial fish and wildlife habitat and populations, and numerous popular recreation opportunities and the people working and using them. When wildfires eventually do occur in these naturally fire-adapted watersheds, strategic portions of the fuel break network constructed (in part) through this task order can be more quickly converted to fire control lines during suppression operations, compartmentalizing unwanted fires to smaller areas and improving safety for local private property users, forest visitors, workers, and firefighters. Pursuant to the Utah Procurement Code, participation in this solicitation is limited to prequalified contractors only. Bids or quotes submitted by a non-prequalified contractor will not be considered. If you are not on the current Pre-approved/Pre-qualified Vendor list for the State of Utah for the treatment type and acres, please do not submit a bid. Question Submission Close Date 6/10/2024 2:00 PM MDT Work may begin as soon as the contract is awarded and must begin before July 15, 2024. Work must be completed by October 15, 2024. If snow or soil conditions delay the start time, the completion date may be extended by the government.
