Saving Project...

Remodeling and renovation of a military facility in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the remodel of a military facility.

Project Description: 1. Since the original structure appears to be functioning as designed, the limits of this scope of work are limited to the support of the proposed modifications to the structure including: a. Proposed Roof Top Units (RTU) on the existing roof structure 1) The new RTU on the roof will be analyzed to confirm the existing roof structure is adequate to support the anticipated loads. b. Proposed 50’ x 125’ overhead canopy on the east side of the existing structure. 1) The canopy will be constructed of steel beams and girders, steel columns and spread foundations. 2) The canopy will be used to support truck parking as well as contain Electric Vehicle chargers. 2. For Building 19, the foundations for the original construction consisted of pile foundations. For Building 14, which is a similar structure only a half mile away from Building 19, conventional spread footings were used. The geotechnical report given for this project was for a site about 900 feet away. The proposed foundation for this geotechnical report is a mat slab. It is our belief that a mat slab is not an economical foundation for any foundation work associated with this project. A geotechnical engineer should be consulted to confirm adequacy of the geotechnical report and determine if borings are required. 3. It is our understanding that the undocumented, existing wood truss bearing on CMU walls, on the east end of the building, is requested to be razed. Since there is no documentation available regarding the existing structure, the design of a new steel roof structure was included in the most recent design. The new roof structure will be self- supporting with braces back to the top of the existing CMU so as not to change the load path on the existing CMU walls. 4. Large openings in existing CMU walls, to accommodate new windows, will have to be cut into the existing cmu walls, which will require new lintels. 5. There is a proposed 13’ x 74’ (approximate) addition on the South side of the existing Building 19. This will be used for men and women locker rooms. In our design we intend to have new steel joists bear on the existing south wall with a new CMU foundation wall. But not limited to please review the specifications for more information. Prevailing Wages Apply. Contract duration = 365 calendar days
