Site work and asbestos abatement for an educational facility in Northborough, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility; and for asbestos abatement for a educational facility.

The Northborough Public Schools are soliciting quotes to encapsulate and stabilize existing asbestos-containing thermal system insulation (TSI) in the boiler room at the Marguerite E. Peaslee School, 31 Maple St., Northborough, MA. SCOPE OF WORK A. The project is for securing (encapsulating) approximately 80 square feet of asbestos containing breaching and tank insulation. B. Containment will be erected to minimize the control area. C. Since the goal is to secure the existing insulation a means of securing it in place and then wrapping it will be used. Something such as wire and lag cloth sealed with a bridging encapsulant will be acceptable. D. The top of the tank will be sealed with lag cloth and a bridging encapsulant. E. Removal will be conducted by a Massachusetts licensed asbestos abatement contractor utilizing licensed asbestos abatement workers and in compliance with this specification and the regulations. F. Final clearance visual inspection will be of inside the contained area and final aggressive air sampling will be conducted. Analysis will be by PCM. G. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to review the site for exact quantities and conditions for purpose of bid and costing A. The Contractor shall provide service, labor, materials, equipment, insurance and supervision for the proper securing (encapsulation) of asbestos containing breaching and tank insulation. 1. All work shall be performed in accordance with all OSHA, EPA, DEP, NESHAP, DLS and any local regulations governing the removal of asbestos containing materials. 2. The Contractor is responsible for protection of any materials and coverings within the work area from contamination and damage. This shall include the fiberglass pipe runs. 3. It is the contractor's responsibility to fully clean all surfaces in the work area. The work area will be minimized to an area sufficient to allow the contractor to perform their work. 4. The Contractor will apply a bridging encapsulant to the top of the tank and the newly applied lag cloth on the breaching. B. All work shall be performed in close coordination with the School District and their retained Industrial Hygiene (IH) Consulting Firm, Hub Testing Laboratory
