Site work and new construction of a day care center in Smithers, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a day care center; and for site work for a day care center.
The Town of Smithers is proposing to build a new 74-space multi-age group childcare facility on a designated portion of Ranger Park, through the Childcare New Spaces Fund Program. Recently, Council approved YMCA BC as the operator for the proposed childcare facility. The exact location for the proposed facility is to be determined in the fall of this year through further community and user group engagement. TIMELINE: The RFEI for preparing conceptual drawings was awarded in last May. Request for expression of interest for preparing detailed construction drawings will be issued only when and if the Ministry approves the Towns funding application. Further update in late summer 2025, upon approvals.
