Site work and new construction of a day care center in Smithers, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a day care center; and for site work for a day care center.
The Town of Smithers is proposing to build a new 74-space multi-age group child care facility on a designated portion of Ranger Park, through the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund Program. Recently, Council approved YMCA BC as the operator for the proposed child care facility. This year's intake to the funding program is open until August 2, 2024. The exact location for the proposed facility is to be determined in the fall of this year through further community and user group engagement. TIMELINE: Request for expression of interest from experienced architectural firms for preparing conceptual / preliminary design drawings, has been issued by the owner. The conceptual or preliminary design drawings prepared by the Consultant will form part of the Town's application to the CBCNSF Program. Further update in late summer 2024, upon award.
