As of October 1, 2024, an architect and contractor have been chosen. The Fieldhouse project will provide up to 150,000 sq ft of indoor recreation and wellness facilities on city-owned property at Rotary Park. The City wants to create a fieldhouse that will include an indoor turf field, walking/running track, multiple basketball courts with striping for pickleball courts, volleyball courts, batting cages, pitching lanes for baseball and softball, multipurpose room, concession area and business offices. This facility is replacing a facility that was destroyed by fire leaving a gap in the community and sporting organizations. The City's recreation center was destroyed by fire, and the Fieldhouse project will replace and expand the previous structure. The City has/will receive $4,750,000.00 from insurance proceeds provided that the City must commit the funds toward the construction by the end of the year. The insurance proceeds are sufficient to construct a smaller facility than envisioned; however, the City would like to do more than just replace the previous structure. It is seeking additional funding to expand the facility to meet the changing needs of the City and provide additional services. With the assistance of a progressive design-build team, the City can construct the facility in phases, starting the first phase before the end of the year to meet the funding commitment deadline, and creating a design that allow for the development of further services as the City is able to raise funds. To accomplish this task, the City will need assistance from a design-builder who can advise on the most efficient way to construct a fully functional facility and maintain the option to expand over time.
