This is a Public Works Project. The Work is located at Merced Falls Hydroelectric Facility and Dam (Project), near Snelling, California. The WORK, in general, consists of refurbish and strengthen the three existing tainter gates due to updated forces from the gate analysis structural report as described within the Contract Documents. The Project involves working on and/or over the reservoir water to install a set of stoplog gates to perform the retrofit scope, miscellaneous metal fabrication and supply, miscellaneous metal demolition on the existing gates, and field assembly and erection of miscellaneous metals on the taiter gates as described within the Contract Documents. Additional site visit note: The site will be accessed through the Merced Falls switchyard. There is a small parking lot next to the switchyard which can be used for parking. If the parking lot fills up, there is space on the frontage of Merced Falls Road which can be used for parking. Meet at the entrance of the parking lot for the meeting. Attendees shall wear closed-toed footwear. Hardhats and Fire Resistant (FR) clothing or coveralls are required as site access will be through the switchyard. These are mandatory requirements and any attendees who arrive without either of these items will not be allowed to enter the Project site. MID can provide FR coveralls during the site visit only, please coordinate in advance of the site visit by email. The scope of work for this Project consists of but is not limited to the following: 1. New Stoplog gate Fabrication a. Structural steel welding, b. Fabrication and installation of seals and hardware, c. Field Installation/disassemble of stoplog gate at each tainter gate location 2. Existing Tainter Gate Refurbishment (one gate at a time) a. Removal and disposal of existing tainter gates seals, bushing and hoist chains, b. Disconnect existing trunnion grease lines and inclinometer for reuse, c. Install environmental containment, d. Lead paint remediation on existing gates e. Sandblasting Existing Radial Gates 3. Retrofit and Test Existing Tainter Gates a. Shop painting of fabricated steel items, b. Inspect and replace existing trunnion bushings, c. Repair existing tainter steel gates, d. Clean and recoat gates, e. Replace gate seals, f. Install and tension new hoist chains and hardware, g. Reconnect trunnion grease lines and inclinometers, h. Test gates after installation, i. Clean area
