Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Seattle, Washington. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
Project Description: The project includes the following work: The University of Washington is proposing to remove and/or replace several docks as well as remove an existing boat ramp located along the shoreline of Union Bay in Lake Washington. Additionally, the project seeks to construct a new beach for launching recreational canoes. The following is a list summarizing the characteristics of each project element: The proposed renovation will remove 6 docks, add two extension docks at the Outer Dock, and remove the boat ramp. Two of the removed docks will be replaced with a sand/gravel canoe launching beach. A bid alternate exists to replace and reorient 1 dock to provide ADA accessibility. A/E's estimate: $1,270,366 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. Bid Guarantee: A surety company bid bond on a form acceptable to Owner, a cashier's check or a certified check payable to the order of University of Washington, or cash, shall accompany each bid in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the Base Bid. No bidder may withdraw its bid after the hour set for the opening thereof, unless the award of the contract is delayed for a period exceeding 60 days. Conditions for bonds: Payment and performance bonds for 100% of the Contract Award Amount, plus state sales tax, shall be furnished for the Work, using the Payment Bond and Performance Bond form published by and available from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) - form A312. Prior to execution of a Change Order that, cumulatively with previous Change Orders, increases the Contract Award Amount by 15% or more, the Contractor shall provide either new payment and performance bonds for the revised Contract Sum, or riders to the existing payment and performance bonds increasing the amount of the bonds. The Contractor shall likewise provide additional bonds or riders when subsequent Change Orders increase the Contract Sum by 15% or more. No payment or performance bond is required if the Contract Sum is $35,000 or less and Contractor agrees that Owner may, in lieu of the bond, retain 50% of the Contract Sum for the period allowed by RCW 39.08.010. Safety Plans: Prior to the issuance of the Notice to Proceed, the Contractor will be required to submit to the Owner a copy of its company safety program. Questions received less than 10 days before the time of bid opening may not be answered. All addenda issued shall be incorporated into these Contract Documents. The Work shall be commenced on the effective date specified in the Notice to Proceed and shall be substantially complete within a period not to exceed one hundred ninety two (192) calendar days. For failure to achieve Substantial Completion of the Work within the time provided, Contractor shall pay Owner $500 for each calendar day from the date when Substantial Completion should have been achieved to the date Substantial Completion is actually achieved. The provisions of the General Conditions section 3.07, for liquidated damages, remain in effect. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive as an informality any irregularities in the bids received.
